今天無意間聽到了旋律熟悉的英文老歌
這是以前專科時，英文會話課Susan老師教過，
由Skeeter Davis所唱的”A Dear John Letter ”。

歌詞內容直接引用一封分手信的內容， 據說是源自一段真實的故事。
女孩因為男友在海軍服役，被分派至海外駐守，
女孩愛上另一位男孩，而原先的男友一直到他看到這封信，
女友早已琵琶別抱，另嫁他人。
在二次世界大戰時，美國的男人很多都去當兵，留下女朋友或老婆在家鄉。
女友或老婆另結新歡打算分手時，通常都會寫信給他們，
由於當時很多人叫John，分手信開頭都是寫「Dear John」，
久而久之，普遍的女的要跟男的分手信叫 Dear John Letter
若女孩子打算寫分手信給男朋友的話，可以說：I'm gonna write a dear John letter.
相對的男的要跟女的分手信叫 Dear Jane Letter
因為Jane可以說是John的反義女性名字。
